The Principles Award

Today at assembly in Calvin's school, he received the Principles Award! He received it for improving in his reading and maths (no I didn't misspell it...they call it maths instead of math) during the week. I was so proud of him! The principle handed him his certificate and shook his hand and then all the kids that received the same awards stood at the front.

Assembly is a great thing that Muritai does each week. They sing a song or two, give out certificates and awards for the previous week's work and also tally house points amongst the class to see who the winning class may be. House points are done in each class and they earn them for helping the teacher, being a team player and that sort of thing. So, I am assuming, each class works to get these points throughout the week and the class with the most is the winner. They just give them recognition but the kids love it! Seems like they really work hard for them.

School's out for the holidays! Sounds so weird but the term has ended and we have a 2-week break. Term 2 will begin after Easter and then it will truly be a countdown til our departure. Today, as they said good-bye to students that were moving away, it really hit home that Calvin will be up there next term and that we'll be leaving straight away, at the beginning of the next holiday. I really can't believe the year has gone by so fast...

Calvin is a bit camoflauged but he's right in the middle of the photo, in front of the projector. He's about to receive his award from Mrs. Buckley and shake Mr. Bird's hand.

There he is at the front, 3rd from the left.

Caroline pointing out her "bubba". Once she found him, she got so excited. Please excuse the grotty shirt she has on...breakfast. :)

Calvin with his amazing teacher, Mrs. Barbara Ryan. She is so kind, patient and sweet yet firm and knowledgeable. She loves the kids and they love her.
