5mcintyres: Busy Sunday

The kids were so excited to have family in town that they decided to wake up at 6am on Sunday morning. It wouldn't have hurt as much if we hadn't of stayed up til midnight playing rummy but it was so much fun regardless. Anyway, we had a nice breakfast of omelets and toast and had a nice relaxing morning trying to decide what to do first. Ben took CW and MK to George's birthday party so I was able to just take CB with us.

We decided to head to the city to hit the harbourside market and Te Papa. It was a fun day and we had gorgeous weather! First, we strolled through the market to grab some fresh fruit and veg and then headed for a stroll on the wharf. We wanted to eat first and Wagamama was our restaurant of choice. Afterwards we strolled back across the wharf, stopped at the playground for CB to have a quick play and then on to Te Papa. (The earthquake house was the first on our list to see. Martha and Faith Ann actually experienced an aftershock while boarding the plane in Christchurch. They didn't feel it but learned about it from the pilot. He let them know it occured and that they had to check the runway to make sure it hadn't been damaged. Yikes!) Because we had done so much walking and exercise we decided to treat ourselves to some NY-style cheesecake and chocolate/banana cake. Well, Martha and Faith Ann did all the treating - many thanks for that!!! We got home in time for me to swing by the party and see my friends and switch cars (and passengers) with Ben. For dinner, we had leftover lasagna (I know, I know...how rude to serve leftovers to guests!) but tonight we'll have chicken cordon bleu! :) Monday will be a relaxing day because of the rain and this week will hold several fun day trips around the city.

Faith Ann shared with us an awesome resource on her library's website. It's a book reading program and the kids love it! Martha and Faith Ann have been wonderful to us. They've read books, played cards and played so much with the kids. It's been a nice break for me to have a few more loving hands to spread the attention.
