Mom and dad arrived to Wellington this morning marking our last days on the island. They came over to help me fly home with the kids. Ben is heading straight to Taiwan so instead of me flying 30+ hours across the Pacific and the US, my parents, ever so graciously, flew over to help me pack and get our brood home. I owe them big time!
Killin' time on the Life Flight
Watching their plane taxi to the jetway!
The last ones off the plane!
(The last time they arrived in Wellington, Prime Minister John Key was on their flight with his security entourage. Of course, I didn't realize who it was til later but knew it was somebody of importance.)
Not too sure yet...didn't take long for her to take to dad like a duck to water.
In Auckland, after the long flight from LA, dad decided to don his UK hat to hide his airplane hair. :) While in line to go through customs, a young guy noticed it and asked if dad was from Kentucky. Of course, that started the convo and dad found out that the young guy was from Lexington, KY, and a Cats fan. He asked where dad was from and he said he grew up in Kentucky but he lived in SC now. The young mate said he lived in SC too that he was a student at a place called Wofford College. Did dad know where that was? :) Well, dad said that he certainly did know about Wofford (we've had many a family member enjoy some Terrier time) and dad asked the friendly fella if he knew Mark Line (dad's bro). It turns out the mate works in the Athletic Department and knows Mark, affectionately known as "Coach Line", from there. If that doesn't show how small the world is, I don't know what would! I couldn't believe it when dad shared this with us. Too funny!
