5mcintyres: Visitin' Papaw's house in the holler

Thursday night we had a fun dinner at Papaw and Nano's house.

Nothin' like fried chicken, mashed taters and green beans from Mrs. Lee's.

Thursday night after suppertime, nothing like a warm summer evening in the country.

After a fun night of sleeping with CB (tossing, turning and falling off the bed, CW & MK slept in Mimi's room), we headed to a few shops in Hazard before going to visit Big Papaw. (Brian is Papaw :) It's a beautiful, hot summer day and the kids are loving the golf cart rides with Uncle Jim and pizza for lunch. It's a nice day to hang out as we get ready for our big reunion at Memom's house in Stanton. There we'll see the whole McIntyre clan, as well as Memom's sisters' families. Sadly, Aunt Mickey passed away earlier this year and will be dearly missed. She has sent us Christmas cards every year and always remembered us at our special times. She was a sweet, dear lady.

At Papaw's, we rode the golf cart over to the stone house. The stone house was built by Papaw and is where Glinda and her brothers grew up. The mountain behind them is where they spent their time exploring and having fun. We walked through the stone house and saw all sorts of sentimental items. What a wonderful home it must have been in which to grow up. Their old chicken house and barn are just a little walk from the house so we ventured along the path (which used to see many a horse) and the kids had their first skeeter bites of the summer. MaeMae looked at her leg, saw the bite and asked what the skeeter bite was. Man, they need to get out in nature more often! As a kid I remember being covered from head to toe in skeeter bites, bruises and scrapes.
