Before we left for Mississippi, Tanya and I took the kids to the Wellington Botanic Garden. It was wonderful! I'm so glad we went and I keep learning of all these hidden gems in and around the city. This was really beautiful with wonderful views of the city, gorgeous plants and trees and even a cable car! Another wonderful day outing!

The Wellington Botanic Garden features 25 hectares of unique landscape, protected native forest, conifers, specialised plant collections, colourful floral displays, and views over Wellington city.

It is classified as a Garden of National Significance by the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture and is an Historic Places Trust Heritage Area.

The garden had awesome creations along the path. The kids had a blast "posing" and exploring!

Calvin couldn't be bothered with the girls so he found him a stick to poke them with. :)

Atop the hill sits an old and new planetarium. Fabulous buildings and gorgeous views!

There are several ways to get to the garden, one by street (or bus) and the other by cable car. This was a very popular tract back in the day. This cable car in the museum is over 100 years old! We started on the main road, started in the rose garden and walked up the hill to the cable car museum. Then back down through the playground and the herb gardens, just to name a few.

The Garden had a great, huge playground. The kids had a blast on the big slide, see saw and swings.
