Columbia to Chicago to LA to Auckland to Wellington!
Chi-Town!
The 4 hour layover in Chicago was ok. It wasn’t terrible but trudging through the airport with 2 mini rolling suitcases and their mini owners along with Caroline wheeling around in her carseat, not to mention hauling our own personal effects is a total workout. Who needs P90X when you can do this! Now, it’s just sit and wait til we board the next leg of our adventure! And, who would’ve thought that O’Hare has NO free Wi-Fi. Columbia Metro has free Wi-Fi….come on Windy City…free internet for all please! Maybe on our way back through! Fun times ahead in LA!
LA!
Oh, LA....where do I begin! Getting through the airport was a little difficult and we had to exit the airport, get on a shuttle to go around the airport and go BACK through security. There they proceeded to check Calvin's suitcase (which didn't thrill him too much since they took his Cars suitcase away) and double-checked all the kids meals. But, we made it through with all the meals, thank goodness. Then, we found out our plane was delayed so we got to stay in LAX for 6 hours instead of 4. The kids were still up at 1am and full of energy...is that what they call hyper-activity?! Do they serve adult beverages on the plane? :) Caroline slept in the airport and we'll see how the 13 hour trip goes over the sea! We did meet a fabulous family from New Zealand and we've already learned all sorts of wonderful new tips, lingo and ideas of things to do.
New Zealand Terminology we’ve learned so far:
Peckish – hungry
Togs – bathing suit
Jandals – flip flops
Check (in a restaurant) – bill
Tea time – dinner
Entrée – appetizer
Main – entrée
Lift – elevator
Full stop – period
Crib - cot
Napping finally at 10pm
