Calvin started cub scouts about a month or so ago and has slowly gotten used to it. It took him a little bit but he will now wear his uniform and go willingly. :) They meet at the church (my old church) twice a month. Mrs. Regina Taylor leads the den and does an amazing job with them. They are learning about proper flag ceremony procedures, working together, respect for each other, leadership and so much more. It's such a great program and I'm so glad Calvin is enjoying it.
One of his assignments to demonstrate physical fitness was to attend a football game and take pictures of various things.
A visit to the St. Matthews Fire Department started off the last pack meeting.
Running the hose like a real fireman!
The fire marshall even showed them the inside of the truck and let them toot the horn. So much for those Sunday afternoon naps!
After the fun visit to the fire house, the cub scouts had their pack meeting with the rest of the dens. At this meeting, they received their badges and/or belt loops for their achievements. They also "inducted" the cub scouts into the pack with a nice face-painting ceremony. The colors on their face represented different things (wishing I could remember! :) but it was a meaningful ceremony and one that he earned by completing his assignments.
He looked like such a big boy sitting with the other scouts. He was the best behaved of them all!
They also sang Happy Birthday to all Sept and Oct birthdays. Fun!
